GLP-1 strength coaching

Build muscle and strength on your GLP-1.

The medication handles your appetite. Strength is the part you still have to train for, and it decides what you are left with when the weight is gone. Supervised lifting and protein coaching, in person across Sarasota and Manatee or remote anywhere, working alongside the prescriber who manages your medication.

On Instagram, send me the word GLP and I will reply myself.

Losing weight fast is not the same as losing fat.

~39%

of the weight lost on semaglutide was lean mass by DXA

STEP 1 DXA substudy

~25%

of the weight lost on tirzepatide was lean mass by DXA

SURMOUNT-1 DXA substudy

~2/3

of the weight lost was regained within a year of stopping semaglutide

STEP 1 trial extension

DXA lean mass includes water, glycogen and organ tissue, so not all of it is skeletal muscle. The goal is not to stop every pound of lean loss. It is to protect strength and function, which is the part anyone actually feels.

Strength is what carries the shopping, gets you off the floor, and keeps you training once the prescription ends. A smaller number on the scale with less strength behind it is a weaker result than it looks.

What you get

  • Supervision

Progressive resistance training covering every major muscle group, coached in person until the technique is solid.

  • Structure

A training and protein plan built around appetite that changes week to week, and around the days when eating is hard.

  • Accountability

Weekly check-ins, with adherence tracked as rates rather than impressions. Protein hit five days of seven is a fact. Doing well is not.

  • Encouragement

Coaching that builds habits meant to outlast the prescription, because the habits are the part of the result you keep.

What gets measured

Grip strength

Hand dynamometer, best of three, measured monthly.

Five-times sit-to-stand

Timed, same chair each time, measured monthly. One of the two measures used in sarcopenia consensus criteria.

Protein, as a rate

Days per week the target was hit, not an average that hides the days it was missed.

Training sessions completed

Sessions done against sessions planned.

Your prescriber sees you for a few minutes every month or two. With your permission, I send them a one-page summary of what actually happened in between, before each appointment.

Can you build muscle while you are losing fat?

If you are new to lifting, or carrying more body fat to begin with, building some muscle while losing fat is realistic. If you already train and you are eating in a steep deficit, holding on to what you have is the honest goal, and it is a better outcome than it sounds.

I would rather tell you that now than sell you a promise neither of us can keep.

What I do not do

  • Recommend, adjust, or comment on dosing or titration
  • Diagnose, treat, or interpret symptoms clinically
  • Suggest starting, stopping, or switching medications
  • Source or discuss non-prescribed compounds

Medication questions go back to the prescriber, every time.

I am a coach, not a clinician. Your medication is prescribed and managed by your doctor, and that does not change because you train with me.

Who this is for

  • Already on a GLP-1

and you have noticed you are getting smaller but not stronger.

  • About to start one

and you would rather build the training habit now than try to bolt it on later.

  • Coming off one

and you want to keep what the medication helped you get.

Most of the coaching content on this subject is aimed at women, so men tend to arrive having found very little written for them. You are welcome here either way.
